Home and School Meeting

Father Judge began the meeting with a prayer.

Rev. Joseph F. Rymdeika, President of St. Pius High School, joined our meeting to share information regarding the new high school to be built in Royersford.  This visit followed Cardinal Rigali’s announcement of the plans to proceed with building the new high school.

Father reviewed the plans including the architectural renderings of the school.  The details, including architectural plans, can be found at the following web address:

On the website noted above, you will find a FAQ section that may answer questions you have.  This is a very exciting time and we look forward to additional information as this project progresses.

Sharon provided an update on the Yankee Candle Fundraiser.  Thank you to all who participated in this fundraiser.  Our current profit is $2002.66.  However, due to the trouble we experienced with backordered items, we have negotiated an additional 10% profit amounting in $500.00 for a total of $2502.66.  All backordered items have been shipped.  In addition to receiving your item, anyone who had a backordered item will also receive a reimbursement for the cost of the item.  The amount that will be reimbursed in total is $1032.00 and will be sent to Sacred Heart as one payment.  Sharon will work with Pat Emery to have checks cut in the appropriate amounts and sent to the seller’s effected.

Sharon noted that some parents have already requested to apply their reimbursement to the school’s profit.  If you wish to do the same please contact Sharon via email at thebellinos@comcast.net or at 610-473-2482.  If everyone donated their reimbursement we could potentially gain an additional $1000.00 for the school.

Terry McKendry advised that profits for Market Day are down this year.  Please consider participating in this school fundraiser.  Chris Haffey and Terry McKendry will be offering a Market Day sampling after mass on Sunday.  It’s really good – please give it a try.

Gretchen Brosius reported that Scrip is also down by about $500 compared to last year at this time.  The goal is to reach $12,000.  Please consider participating in the Scrip program and if you already participate perhaps consider increasing the amount purchased each week.  Keep in mind you can use it to pay your Kohl’s charge.

Christine Mesaros spoke about the school yearbooks.  Due to the number of ads placed in the yearbook the cost should remain at $20.00.  A reminder now for next year’s book - please take pictures of your children and special events (class trips, parties, sports, etc).  This year was a challenge to get enough pictures, especially in the younger grades.  Christine will be looking for volunteers to help with orders.

Mary Shields spoke about SH’s newsletter – Sacred Heart Beat.  Please submit your stories and information for the newsletter.  You can include family oriented topics, special events, classified ads, etc.

Jen Portela advised that we are in need of a volunteer to chair the basket raffle.  Lori Howarth has done an outstanding job but is now passing the baton.  This is a huge fundraiser for Sacred Heart.  We have volunteers to help but need a leader.  Please contact Jen or Lori.

Teresa Miller advised that the current H&S Board’s term ends in June.  We will be looking for nominations at the next H&S Meeting on 3/31.  We would like to receive enough nominations to hold an election.  Please feel free to speak with any of the current or former board members for more information.

Our next H&S Meeting will be held on March 31st.

Congratulations to our scrip certificate winners – Laura Mooney and Terry Haffey.

Meeting adjourned.
